Sophia Tang is a high-school senior, social entrepreneur, and student researcher driven by her deep passion for tackling complex problems that disproportionately impact women.
She is the co-founder of Amali (amali.world), a social enterprise aiming to deliver a novel low-cost diagnostic tool for female genital schistosomiasis (FGS) and cervical cancer to women across sub-Saharan Africa. She recently won 1st place and a $10,000 grant at the 2022 Youth Impact Challenge with her project.
She currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of GirlTechBoss, a 501(c)3 non-profit aiming to empower young girls in STEM. She is a Student Researcher at CHEO Research Institute, where she works to increase early intervention for eating disorders among youth. Finally, she has worked on various consulting projects with BenchSci and the UNEP.
